Dr Victor Sánchez Urrutia currently serves as the National Secretary of the National Secretariat for Science, Technology and Innovation of Panama. Previously, he held the position of Director of Business Innovation at said institution. He has been working in the field of technology and innovation for more than 20 years.
Dr Sánchez has a master’s degree and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University – Illinois, United States of America. He graduated from the Technological University of Panama with a degree in Electromechanical Engineering.
He has done research in biomechanics, robotics and artificial intelligence, has been a fulltime professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technological University of Panama (UTP), and has held various management positions at te UTP, including Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Director of International Relations. Furthermore, he was the founder and director of the UTP Analysis, Design and Simulation Laboratory and the automation and robotics research group of this university. He has also been a technology consultant for various companies in Panama.
Dr Sánchez is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineering, of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and of the Panamanian Association for the Advancement of Science (APANAC).
